For the first time we managed to acquire a seascape by the painter POPPE FOLKERTS from Norderney, who is rated one of the best marine painters of his time by many. Originals by him are offered on the art market. Poppe Folkerts was a passionate sailor who sailed the North Sea with his ship and found his motives that way on the coast and in the harbours.
This oil painting shows an early view of Norderney harbour around 1900 with many details in an excellent artistic overall view. Photos of the painting and more information about it can be found here in our online gallery.
Lately we acquired a large collection of works by Johannes Holst and - for the first time - paintings by his early deceased son (Hans) Herbert Holst from a private collector from Northern Germany. Furthermore we extended our portfolio with several interesting new acquisitions in the categories seascapes, harbour paintings and ship portraits. Therefore we would like to invite all customers and interested people to a round tour that have not visited our new showroom in Hamburg yet. Simply make an appointment with us by phone, contact form or E-Mail. Of course you can also take a look at all of our new acquisitions calmly in our online shop.
After the closing of the Papenfuss picture mouldings and frames factory on 1st February 2021 business operations of the Galerie Harmstorf will continue at new locations. The headquarters are located in Wedel from now on. Additionally we now have a showroom in the Kieler Straße in Hamburg where we will exhibit paintings and ship models. Unlike before there will be no fixed shop hours, interested customers can make a viewing appointment via phone, e-mail or our contact form. All further details can be found in the category "contact". Our online gallery shop will be available around the clock as ever.

The iron sheets are prepared by her with different primings. The colours used are partially absorbed by the material and always merge in different ways. Furthermore the sheets are partially treated by her with powdery minerals and chemicals, the colours are always applied fluently in layers. Occasionally she scrapes, grindes and polishes the surfaces several times, so the artistic process of creation and the resulting iron landscapes are pure coincidence.
